The Captain:.

Episode three-

AGAIN

(Opening shot frontal- Eye height of six foot tall cameraman. The shot is tight showing slightly above his head and just below his uncovered chest. He is wearing a white gown. The shot looking down at actor playing Jody Faust laying in his hospital bed.)

Two sets of young girl’s hands reach across the bed on opposite sides grabbing at one of his two hands as the camera zooms out to have in the viewer’s frame Lottie Faust on the right side of the bed with Isabel in the foreground holding, sort of pulling at him. While Lucy is on the left side holding her dad’s hand sobbing. Lucy lays her head onto her dad’s bicep and right side of his rib cage.

Lieutenant Faust:

I’m okay. I’ve already recovered. Stop that. There is nothing to cry about. Stop it. Both of you.

—-New shot of Mrs. Faust’s face (frontal shot). She is tight lips and wears a mask to hide her emotions. The mask is not working. Slight away shot but from the top of her head down to the top of Isabel’s head (This is a fast side shot get the top of Isabel’s puff pony tails- one on each side of her head.) (Director note: follow the story decide proper shots.)

Isabel

Daddy I was so scared.

—-Lucy who is still buried her face on her dad’s arm cringes when her twin states this fact.

Lieutenant Faust

I know. I know. ( In kid like comforting voice.)

But mommy and daddy took care of the problem and we’re all safe now.

—-He quickly shakes his hand free from Isabel and grabs at Lucy’s shoulder and squeezes her into him.

Jody then begins patting her on the back and quickly elbows her upward to stand her up. Lucy uprights herself. She wipes at her face to clear tears and snot. Jody reaches out for Isabel who darts in to hug her dad. Mrs. Faust is bumped backwards during this.

Lottie Faust:

My sister is here at the nurses station. She wants to take the kids. I told her to just stay here with us and monitor the twins while we speak.

Lieutenant Faust:

Alright.

Look, I can wiggle my toes my feelings are back.

—-Isabel looks at his toes while still laying on Jody’s stomach and chest. His wife and Lucy also look at his feet moving underneath the blanket.

Jody reassures Isabel and grabs her by the shoulders and pushes her back to stand upright.

Lieutenant Faust:

Go with your mother now. I’ll see you soon.

—-Jody smiles and watches as they gather on the right side of the bed. Mrs. Faust reaches for nose wipes on Jody’s side table next to the bed and grabs several, hands them to both girls and guides them to the door. The door rolls open then back closed. Jody cringes in pain.

The door rolls open again and in walks the charge nurse followed by Captain Faust with Major Fontaine and Capital Police Commander Blake.

Charge Nurse:

Well Mr. Faust the lab results show steady improvement since your arrival three hours ago. I must tell you that I am not totally uninformed of Omni-human resistance and repair. I am a ‘points in charge nurse’. At the disposal of the ones you serve. This secret is ours alone.

Lieutenant Faust:

The pain is nearly unbearable.

Charge Nurse:

Yes well that’s understandable since both your lower and upper vertebrae has been chewed up from both gun fire and your own metabolic and physical repair. If you please. In case you aren’t aware. Your body tears down dissolves and repairs and replenishes at the same instances. Within the next hour you will no longer feel pain. Within a full 48 hours you will be fully regenerated. This is not to say that there won’t be hiccup along the way. Within the week you will be fully restored. All of your normal physical activities will not be an issue.

Captain Faust:

That’s great news nurse. Is there anything else?

Charge Nurse:

No. That about covers it.

Captain Faust:

Is there anything that we could do for you?

Charge Nurse:

None that I could think of.

Captain Faust:

Well if by any chance that changes do not hesitate to get in touch with me.

—-The charge nurse nods and then exits the room.

Major Fontaine:

How are you doing Jody?

Captain Faust:

Yeah man wha’ the fuck happened?

Lieutenant Faust:

Bad. I feel like I’m being shot all over again. They rushed me. They planned to kill my family. Gertrude recorded it all. Do you know who they are?

Major Fontaine:

We’re gathering all information as we speak.

Capital Police Commander Blake:

Lieutenant Faust where did your wife get the Mech Regen? It’s only allotted to Special Ops.. Seals and Commandos.

Captain Faust:

Now we’re not going to go there or get into this at any point are we Blake.

—-Abruptly.

Major Fontaine:

Chris I’ll handle this!

Captain Faust:

To hell you say! This is getting sticky out the box. Those motherfuckas tried to frag my cousin’s ass. ‘and they shot up a lot of cops and civilians. My cousin didn’t start this shit! He just covered his ass with the right weapon.

Major Fontaine:

Would you shut the fuck up!

Capital Police Commander Blake:

You must understand that a formal report must be filed and within this report the types of armaments that were used during this incident.

I am painfully aware of the loss of lives. The lives of both civilians and law enforcement. Soon I will have to make a statement to the public regarding this matter.

Lieutenant Faust:

I gave her the weapon. I also trained her in the use of it. Even though she didn’t need much training. She’s a military brat.

Capital Police Commander Blake:

I’ve interviewed your wife. What’s staggering is the answer that she gave me when I asked her what if the dead woman in the stall wasn’t an assassin.

—-Pause.

Lieutenant Faust:

What was her answer?

Capital Police Commander Blake:

She said that she’d do it again under pressure. She said with all the shooting and screaming the woman inside the stall never made a peep. Not even an “oh shit!” Or “what’s going on?” Nothing. So she took away any guess work.

I got chills.

And I’m a cop.

I have to question her decision Lieutenant Faust. What if she was wrong Lieutenant. A deaf person in the stall. Or a child in there on the toilet. ‘and that type of weapon. Damn near cut her in half.

I want you to think about that.

Captain Faust:

Think my ass. Fate was in our favor. It wasn’t a child. Or some deaf bitch. It was a hitter. Now I am asking you for a favor. Sweep this shit away and bury it gone. No one gives a fuck about how a fucked up merc bought it Blake. Especially after the carnage her posse caused.

Major Fontaine:

Captain will you please stop talking.

—-Short pause.

Listen Commander Blake, although I feel that you have your set duties which require the utmost response in honesty and integrity, I have to say that I am in agreement with the captain. The public should not and can not be allowed to know the entire details of what transpired within the ladies lavatory of Regal theatre. Yes we are in clear view of the public and are subject to approval ratings by those we serve. However they are not aware nor should they become aware of the dealings or skirmishes of our league of Omni-humans. ‘Our physical capabilities and access to weaponry and such, could become exposed and then subsequently scrutinized by civilians. Not only that but also our enemies are watching us ever so closely. Leave all this information’X-99’. Classified or Better yet I suggest that you outright lie about the gun. Jody taking several kill shots and that monster of a car.

I don’t have to tell you that law enforcement is a very large government agency. We’re all over the place and into many things. All but a few branches of law enforcement is seemingly in clear view of the public. However we who are actually in the agency know that cops are cloaked like spies. To investigate, assess and gather information then of course we dispel justice. Again, we have a lot of enemies. Earthlings and abroad. One of our best defenses when dealing with the enemy is ‘lies’. As shameful as I have to admit, lies cloak and obscures actual facts to the enemy. We need them blindsided in order to maintain our edge. We need you on board with this. If this is too sketchy then step down and keep silent. In other words and to be clear, I’m asking you to honor our code of silence. As a fellow officer of the law.

——Capital Police Commander Blake not liking were this conversation is going so he breaks from the group and eases slightly towards the door.

Major Fontaine:

You may be taken aback because of our pledge to integrity and see us as corrupt officers of the law but I am asking you to see the big picture here. Captain Faust’s public hearings isn’t more than a day old. Most if not all of the lead officers at Command Essential and E.A.G.L.E are still hiding under their desk. That being said this can not happen again. Our league through Command Essential have successfully established our strength and presence deeply within the universe. Another incident could set us all back.

Capital Police Commander Blake:

Yes I understand your position. However I feel that those of us who serve and protect and are merely human deserve honesty and truth. We ran to your aid and some of us lost our lives for it.

You’re right I took an oath. ‘And I very much intend on honoring that oath.

Are we clear?

Major Fontaine:

Not quite. What are you saying?

Capital Police Commander Blake:

I’m saying whether or not we have a leak within the department is of no concern to me. You can be at ease to know that I won’t expose to the public the entire scope of information during my interview. What you’ve just discussed and all. However as far as the details of the report, they must be accurate and true to the standards of the Hall of Records for historical purposes. I must follow procedures.

Major Fontaine:

Blake Again, I am asking you to see the big picture. There are more factors involved than you can imagine. X-99 allows an amended version of the incident.

Capital Police Commander Blake:

Sorry Major. I don’t do amended versions.

Major Fontaine:

Do you do unemployment? More likely than not if you do not follow my recommendation you will be demoted to secretarial work. How would that suit you?

I don’t like this Blake. I need you to not only understand but to trust my judgment on this matter and fall in line. Are you going to fall in line soldier? If not I’ll have you removed from the case. Plain and simple.

Capital Police Commander Blake:

It’s not at all that simple.

Major Fontaine:

You’re right.

Commander you’re relieved.

—-Capital Police Commander Blake is shaken a bit swallow then turns and heads for the door.

Major Fontaine:

I suggest that you get a heavy overcoat because once the word gets out that you are not with the team, the heat that you depend on will be gone.

——Capital Police Commander Blake stops and turns around to face Major Fontaine.

Capital Police Commander Blake:

Is that a threat Major?

Major Fontaine:

You can call it what you want. ‘Get on your fuckin’ high horse and act like your actions are gonna cause some great change in events. They will. If that report gets into the wrong hands our league of Omni-humans will be compromised. Exposing them to danger. Who else is going to protect us? You? You’re incapable of the job. Look what happened to Capital Response today. A woman with a sub machine regenerating output stopped 4 out of the nine shooters. The Lieutenant’s Shelby killed three more. ‘And they weren’t extra terrestrials. They weren’t from Vale or Cuz’ins or the lawless eastern front. They were Earthlings. Regular non enhanced human beings. ‘And they mopped you guys. Our fuckin’ back up! Well go’head do your civic duty but I am telling you that you’re going to ride this one out alone pal.

——Capital Police Commander Blake turns his head towards the door. His body follows him.

Major Fontaine:

Enjoy being a secretary smart guy. Yeah try paying off your over priced home mortgage and your wife’s credit card debt on your new digs ‘big man’.

Oh and that one hundred thousand dollar per semester jolt that you’re struggling to pay to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for that ‘artiste’ son of yours! Good luck.

——Capital Police Commander Blake stops cold at the door. Hangs his head and stays put.

Major Fontaine:

Thinking about it huh my friend. You do this for me…us and I will reward you. Money. Yes ‘and I will also ‘up’ you and your ready team. You will become Omni-human level one. You will have armaments and intel. People will think twice about fucking with you. We wanted to fortify you guys for sometime now.

——Capital Police Commander Blake turns around showing a broken man. Long shot pause

New shot: High looking down on cast. Major Fontaine is in the foreground of the hallway outside of Lieutenant Jody Faust’s room he walks underneath the camera out of view. Captain Faust is standing on the outside of the rolling circular room door…He advises Jody.

Captain Faust:

Fontaine wait up a second.

New shot: Eye level. Sideview. The Captain stands outside of Jody’s recovery room.

Captain Faust:

Jody I’m in the area. So are twenty of our crewmen. I’ve Dimension Placed my space station between here and the moon. We’re going to accompany you and your wife and children on to it and skedaddle off to a cop zone where you’ll be safe. Within seventy two hours you can return to duty if that suits you.

Lieutenant Faust:

We’ll talk about it once we’re on board.

Captain Faust:

Alright. Love you mayn.

Lieutenant Faust:

I love you too. Thank you.

——The captain turns towards the camera and proceeds towards the direction of Major Fontaine. He walks underneath the high camera out of shot.

—-New shot the Captain gallops to catch up with Major Fontaine. They walk side by side. Major Fontaine is stiff jawed.

Captain Faust:

That was masterful.

You were like a surgeon. You cut that muh’fuhka in half.

——silence while walking then…

Major Fontaine:

I oughta cut you in half for ‘jappin’ off in there. Do you always have to blow it in my presence?

Captain Faust:

Blow it huh. Look Major contrary to your belief I am quite effective in negotiations. I mean for the most part, out there, I am top command. What I say goes.

I do alright.

Major Fontaine:

You’re being ‘uped’ again. The Prez wants you to schedule the time. Call him.

——pause. The Captain looks sick and scared.

Captain Faust:

Omni-level eight?

——pause.

What’s it like?

Major Fontaine:

Now now that would be cheating the life of the upgrade. You know that.

Captain Faust:

Did he say anything else?

Major Fontaine:

No. Nothing other than both you and your cousin are required to undergo upgrade R and S. Restraint and strengthening.

——They corner in towards the elevators. Major Fontaine presses the call button. He turns and looks squarely into Captain Faust’s eyes.

Major Fontaine:

Blind check. Take your shot.

Captain Faust:

You sure?

Major Fontaine:

Cap’ton!

——The Captain jabs the Major at full power in the face just below his left eye. The Major flinches from the force of the punch.

Major Fontaine:

I almost felt that.

——The elevator doors open. The Major approaches the Captain and punches him hard in the abdomen. The Captain drops to his knees holding his stomach. The camera shot stays low encapsulating the entire body of the Captain on his knees. Continue shot then quick break to a new tighter shot which shows the top of the captain’s head and back as he hunches over clutching his stomach as the viewer sees the Major’s legs entering the elevator.

Major Fontaine:

My gift to you.

On your feet Captain.

——The elevator doors close.

New shot of shower drain. Shower water is hitting against it. Long duration of shot.

New shot: Upper body shot from inside of large shower from behind Lieutenant Faust showing him leaning holding himself up with his right arm with his hand open against the shower wall. The water pouring down on to his hanging head and back. There are no longer bullet holes. Zoom in on his back and scour the area.

New shot: From inside of the shower facing out wards at the now naked Mrs. Lottie Faust entering the shower.

New shot: From away and outside of the glass box shower showing the couple together in the shower. Water begins spraying from the ceiling of the shower to evenly wet the couple.

New shot: Side view with Lieutenant Faust sitting on the foot of the king sized bed watching television in pajamas. (Note: Televisions are directed in its height and size on a spatial plane. There is no surrounding hardware or hard surface. It’s just an image sitting in space transmitted and running off of the surrounding energy field.)

Lottie Faust wears a white puffy robe. She fluffs her hair while in the background next to the vanity.

Lieutenant Faust:

I hate Dimension Placing. Time Mach too. Too new of technology for me to trust them.

Lottie:

I know. You’ve said that again and again.

Lieutenant Faust:

Relativity is a scary word to hang on to.

‘And us rocketing through space at light speed and beyond. Essentially we operate a Time Machine. Time Mach.

It fries my brain when I think that I have left my family behind maybe millions of years ago. Then I race back home. I rush back through the use of Time Mach for the girls’ birthday. I have great fear when doing so. But like most of my fears, I dismiss the thought. But the fear arises in me again. I’m trying not to skew our continuum. Our continuity or rather the correct path that we were on. That I’ve left you on when I left.

Lottie:

It’s all relative darling. ‘And knowing how stubborn you are, if there was something off you’d get back in your vehicle speed forward then turn around and go back towards your destination on the known trajectory.

——pause. Jody looks away from the t.v. at his wife. She smiles at him.

Lieutenant Faust:

I still don’t like them both. They scare me. Often I feel that I am caught in an alternate reality. That frightens me. Yet I use them both.

Lottie:

I like to think of relativity in a Buddhist sense. Although we may live in an existence of animality life is beautiful and forgiving and sometimes but maybe not too often open to follow our lead. I don’t like to think of alternate realities or dimensions. I want to believe that if you left here and went two trillion years ahead then turned around and came back to the spot that you left then okay that happened. I don’t like to believe that you can go back and meet yourself.

Lieutenant Faust:

That’s what I’m talking about dear. Dimensions converging upon each other. Or rather alternate variants.

Lottie:

I don’t want to think about it and don’t want to give that thought any weight to my beliefs.

——pause.

Can the Dimension Placer do that? Go way back into time? Dinosaurs, the birth of Jesus, World War II?

Lieutenant Faust:

Probably. They don’t let us do that though. It’s against the law.

Dimensions Placers and Time Machs are highly regulated by E.A.G.L.E..

They’d execute anyone who would try to change history by visiting and adjusting the past.

——There is a sudden ring at the door.

Lieutenant Faust:

Who is it?

——Jody looks at his wife again.

Lieutenant Faust:

I hope that didn’t wake the kids.

——From outside.

Captain Faust:

Your Captain.

Lieutenant Faust:

Let yourself in and wait for me in the front. I’ll be out there in a minute.

Captain Faust:

Alright.

——The Captain stands in the middle of the living room. The 9 week old puppy he has brought his young second cousins hobbles at his feet. He looks down at it. It’s a boy. A baby black American Pit-bull.

The Captain can clearly see both doors to the adjoining room from which his cousin’s family sleep. The rooms are straight ahead of him.

Jody Faust exits the bedroom and closes the door behind him. He approaches the Captain.

Lieutenant Faust:

What’s up? (Kind of cold but not too personal. Jody is liken to one who has just had a painful operation.)

What’s with the dog?

Hey little fella.

Captain Faust:

I bought it for the kids I thought it might lighten things up around here.

Lieutenant Faust:

Oh no! Now is not the time for that kind of responsibility. A pit-bull no less.

Captain Faust:

It’s a gift.

Lieutenant Faust:

No Chris! No!

You better not let Lottie see that you’ve brought her daughters a pit-bull.

She kinds of blames us both for what happened this afternoon.

——The Captain sighs.

Captain Faust:

Okay.

I was thinking I’d call him Greg.

Lieutenant Faust:

Your big brother’s name?

I don’t think if he knew that he would like it.

Naw call him ‘Balls’. Look at the set of nuts on the little fellow.

—-New shot of the puppy waddling around. Close up of the puppy’s testicles. They are tight and we’ll pronounced.

——They laugh.

Captain Faust:

Okay. Balls it is. We’ll keep him on the Nemesis. I’m deputizing this dog.

Lieutenant Faust:

Wonderful.

——pause.

So what’s up?

Captain Faust:

Well… the same as usual. Priorities and directives.

Up front is our personal need to off load that acquisition of Platinum and Gold to those shifty motherfuckers from Cuz’in. Collect our money quickly and quietly. Pay our guys then make sure the Prez gets his cut. As well as the Queen Mother. That’s imperative.

Next the President is ordering our upgrade.

Lieutenant Faust:

Wonderful.

Captain Faust:

I’ve spoken to Sargent Lee. I’ve directed him to make sure that all of our jurisdictions feel the weight of our presence. Continue interactions with the natives, wards, what have you…continue smacking the shit outta mufuhkas to keep people in line until our return.

Lieutenant Faust:

(Negative comment.) Awesome.

Captain Faust:

As you know The Bureau of Investigation is on the the hunt for the guys that tried to do you and your family in. Of course we are running our own diagnostic. We need to be extremely cautious. If we so happen to break this thing open first, let’s make sure that we know who the fuck we are planting into the ground.

Lieutenant Faust:

Absolutely sir!

Captain Faust:

Colonel Dela Croix wants a briefing with us ASAP. So many things all at once.

Also…What’s most important…I intend to find out who killed Augie. How and why.

Lieutenant Faust:

What’s your first step?

Captain Faust:

I’ll be questioning everyone of interest. The coroner, Augustine’s sister, even the President. I need to find out what he knows of her death.

Flight Pilot:

Captain Faust do you read me?

Captain Faust:

Open line: Go ahead.

Flight Pilot:

We’re being attacked sir. All fifteen of our Tauruses are in a dog fight. The pursuers have over thirty vehicles. Three of which are bulk armored with lazer protection.

Captain Faust:

Frosty. You didn’t know that we were being followed? All the tech shit that I have on this heap?

Flight Pilot:

Captain, there is a lot of traffic in the area. I ‘parlez’ed with many of their identities and a group started zapping.

Devastator can take them out but there might be the possibility of wacking the innocent as well from the debris.

Captain Faust:

Veer off trajectory bitch! Fire Bozzo rounds at them to peak their dominance. Let them chase us.

Let me have eyes.

——A-square light appears in front of the Captain and then another and another again. The images of the dog fight in one square as well as the Captain’s speeding space station in the second one. The three bulk cruisers thrust forward and ride along side the space station. The third square shows a extremely large Dimension Placement System just hovering in space.

Captain Faust then easily touches the right side of his belt and then touches a dark crimson button on the belt to trigger a command transmission.

Captain Faust:

Zone 38 Special.

——There’s a groan and instantly they are in a secure police rally point. The pursuers that rode along of the space station continue their pursuit with less vigor. The space station slows to a cruiser speed and the pursuers also slows to a cruiser speed. They are no longer shooting because they now realize the setting.

——New Shot: Inside of bulk reinforced truck vessel. The commanding assailant is standing yet leaning/ hovering near the bulk truck’s fully jacked dashboard and console. He looks out of the windows. He is to the right of the driver of the truck. The driver who is seated looks around also then focused on the Captain’s space station to their left as they continue coasting along side of the space station. They are in Police Ornament Thirty-Eight (Special).

New shot: Frontal displaying the front of the Captain’s space station with the three bulk trucks along side of it cruising. Police Cruisers are in the foreground and background on various trajectories. Seemingly unaware of the melee.

Suddenly all of the Police Tauruses, none were distroyed during the dog fight, and the perpetrators vehicles appear out of Dimension Placement. Finally the Captain’s personal Dimension Placement unit which just instantaneously placed them all appears just beyond the out skirts of the Police Ornament. Near the stationary Dimension Placer that the Ornament has on ready.

——The loud voice of the Captain comes through the ‘com of all vessels.

Captain Faust:

You’re all under arrest!

The Captain sports a ballistic balaclava
