FYI, For Your Information, my series The Captain was inspired by the long running rerun series known as Star Trek. The original series has been on television for nearly sixty years.

I wanted the first, my first composite of c Joy inc., to be something close to Star Trek. Something satirically funny yet not a comedy. I wanted it to be serious but not dogmatic. I wanted terrifying science and scientific discovery and technology. I intended to add a glossed over ingredient from the original Star Trek and Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and etc…, That ingredient being greed and self absorbed preoccupations, of the main characters…Write about my lead characters’ need to conquer more and more planets and space. No such thing as Prime Directive. I wanted The Captain to be militarized and hard and mean spirited, shameful and yet charming. Like most of human history. A ten episode series that got canceled because of its cold nature. Also IT was canceled because lack of interest from home viewers.

When Hollywood decided to revamp Star Trek in the movie theatres, they gave me teeth to The Captain.

I am referring to the scene involving Peter Weller who played a ruthless general in the second installment of Trek. He commanded a bigger black war machine that resembled the Enterprise.

That’s what I wanted to see.

I put that hard-assness within the works of my ten part story.
