Comments on Well Fuck It Then and AGAIN: THE CAPTAIN episodes two and three.
You know, I feel that after living years on this planet, I still don’t have it figured out. I know I roll things through my head and try to come to a conclusion that makes me go “Ah this is why this is the way that it is.” Then I realize something that disproves my point. Then I am back to why. Anyway, Again…
If you remember when we were introduced to Lieutenant Jody Faust’s family in episode two, I only wanted Mrs. Lotti Faust shown from the neck down. Kind of demeaning and lessening her importance seemingly. The actress playing the character counteracts my intent by serving her family. She provides nutrition and comfort as a wife and mother. The equation that I am trying to describe is this: Most often, at least in my head, women are nutrition providers. Nurturers and solid foundations that we rely upon. The reason she is figuratively decapitated is because how we so often shit on things that give us the most joy and support. Even I do this. I am ashamed by this but at least I recognize it to be so. She sits at the table and her presence becomes more valid.
Jody’s wife confronts Jody on his willingness to buy illegal tickets for them to see Star Child. The twin young ladies want to see this year’s hit movie. She wants their children to see the movie but is unwilling to pay for scalper tickets. She wants her husband to support her decision. Jody does not feel the same as Lottie. She questions his reasoning and the cost for losing oneself. She believes he should hold on to his principles at work and show proper direction and attitude when it comes to shaping their children’s attitudes.
Jody bulldozes her and she obviously gives in and they attend a matinee with their twin girls Lucy and Isabel. They are attacked and the nurturing mother counterattacks like a momma grizzly bear.
AGAIN
In the recovery room. Isabel knocks her mother out of the way to get to her father. This is funny to me because most often things seem this way. Their mother saved all of their lives and she is pushed aside for dad. Dad actions probably instigated the event but this was too much of a grownup issue for them to care. All they know is their father was shot and bled a lot. They were scared of losing him.
Major Fontaine persuasive tactics:
Just like The From values can be only black and white and gray. Police serve and protect. They can be judge and jury. They have weapons and physical training and abilities that can end a life. We look to them for safety. Understanding and also as a friend. A just and honest friend.
There are many gray areas one could encounter. This fact does not exclude police officers. I won’t break what transpired in episode three- AGAIN because it speaks for itself. Just know that sometimes all we are left with is to choose battles that we can win. How ever ugly that sounds.
Nuff Said
